Laura Michelle Kelly Is Jane Austen In New Musical Austen's Pride

Jane Austen's iconic masterpiece, Pride and Prejudice comes to musical life this fall as Austen's Pride debuts at the 5th Avenue Theatre in October. Broadway alum and stage favorite, Laura Michelle Kelly will star as Jane Austen in the premiere.

Written by Lindsay Warren Baker and Amanda Jacobs, Austen's Pride sees the famous author added into the story, and charts Austen's journey as she writes her most famous work. 

Laura Michelle Kelly's theatre credits include the Broadway production of Finding Neverland and the West End production of Mary Poppins, where she originated the role of the titular star. Kelly will be joined by Clifton Davies who originated the role of Sultan in the Broadway production of Aladdin.

What is Austen's Pride about?

By adding the writer into the plot of Lizzie and Darcy, Lindsay Warren Baker and Amanda Jacobs explore the characters and the life of Miss Austen in close up, discovering new layers to the beloved romantic satire. Set to an achingly beautiful score and following Jane as she writes her most famous work, this is a story of love and wisdom on the road to self-discovery.
