Rivals a Met Production
Hume's production set the stage wonderfully for this exuberant opera. The attention to detail is quite amazing. The Victorian-era costumes were beautiful. Gary Wedow directed the orchestra with sensitivity to the singers and the score. Bel Canto rises and falls with the vocal abilities of the principals. Opening night did not disappoint. Ginger Costa-Jackson and Angelini not only looked the part of a dashing prince and beautiful soon-to-be princess. The vocal theatrics of Costa-Jackson was simply spectacular. Where many singers rush through the coloratura she not only owned the transitions but was twirling as she interpolated throughout the arias!! Angelini has a beautiful voice, his acting was believable. The supporting cast was strong, not a weak link identified. Seattle Opera's production of Cinderella is every bit as good and in my opinion better than the Metropolitan Opera's Production. BRAVO Seattle Opera!
