Jeremy Denk Performs A Program Of Quartets
American piano virtuoso Jeremy Denk returns to the Benayroya Hall to tickle the ivories in an exciting and varied programme of quartets. As at home with the mellifluous melodies of Mozart as he is with the bold dynamism of Bach, the world class performer is never one to think or play inside the musical box. With every thought-provoking note Denk builds a reputation as sonic philosopher and poet.
Joined by some of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra's finest, Denk will journey back into the annuls of classical music history during works by Smetana, Kancheli and Schnittke, before rounding off the evening with a rousing rendition of Beethoven's transformative string quartet, a profoundly emotional piece said to have been written when the legendary composer was fully deaf.
