Jeremy Denk doesn't fit into anyone category or genre when it comes to his playing style. As happy to gently tickle the ivories in the sweet simplicity of Mozart as he is flying through the dynamic, fleet fingerwork of Bach, the MacArthur Genius Award winner is a virtuoso pianist for all seasons. Don't miss the American performer's spectacular technique and eloquent form during Beethoven's majestic Emperor Concerto and Sibelius' melodically lush Second Symphony.
Led by resident Music Director Ludvico Morlot, Denk and the ensemble start the evening off with Beethoven's very last concerto, a monumental work that tests the mettle of its piano soloist with a wide dynamic range and demanding virtuosity. The haunting melodies of Sibelius' rich and romantic Second Symphony round off the evening.
