Why See Seattle Symphony - Debussy La Mer?

ClassicalConcerts

Take a vacation with this series of unforgettable musical postcards presented by the Seattle Symphony. From the ambiance of the ocean captured by Debussy, to a Mediterranean cruise in the sun as depicted by Ibert, there's plenty here to write home about!

In addition to worldly adventure, piano's bright star Daniil Trifonov will be lending his admirable talents to Alexander Scriabin's Piano Concerto.

Program
Jaques Ibert - Escales
Inspired by his time in the Navy during the First World War, Ibert presents a enchanting journey around some of the liveliest cultures, sights and sounds of the Mediterranean, starting in Italy, taking in North Africa and ending with the regional flavors of Spain.

Alexander Scriabin - Piano Concerto

Ottorino Respighi - Fountains of Rome
The first in his popular Rome trilogy, Respighi focuses on Rome's famous fountains including the Trevi and the Triton as he imagines a day in the lives of their stone characters in the heat of The Eternal City.

Debussy - La Mer
Debussy ends the evening taking us out to sea with this influential and wholly entrancing evocation of the big blue. From lazy waves to great squalls, feel the power and playfulness of the ocean as seen by the composer.
