In March the Seattle Symphony pays tribute to two Russian masters of the romantic period in one night, performing Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's emotional Symphony No. 5 as well as Sergei Prokofiev's playful Symphony No. 1. In between the two, SSO will also perform Violin Concerto No. 2 from 1952 by American pioneer Florence Price, the first ever African-American woman to be recognized formally as a symphonic composer.
Leading the orchestra is Eun Sun Kim, the South Korean-born conductor making waves around the globe for her thrilling performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, L'orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille, Royal Swedish Opera and the English National Opera, among many others.
Opening night: 12 March 2020
