Why See Seattle Symphony - The Firebird?
Debuted in 1910 The Firebird quickly became a popular favorite and saw Stravinsky step into the limelight as one of the most exciting and dynamic composers of the time. Originally written for a Diaghilev ballet The Seattle Symphony brings you a piece that will transport you through time and bring you into a land of fantasy.
The story of The Firebird derives from Slavic Folklore where this mystical creature was both a blessing and a curse to its captor. Rumoured to have been able to see into the future The Firebird was a common feature in many fairy-tales and stories. This fantastical myth lends itself to a full musical composition allowing the audiences to be sucked into a land of mystery and intrigue.
