In a collaboration with the Detroit, Metropolitan and Omaha Operas, as well as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Seattle Opera presents Anthony Davis and Thurlani Davis' powerful retelling of the life and career of Malcolm X. In a new staging from Tony-nominated director Robert O'Hara, Anthony Davis' newly revised jazz infused-score underpins a cast of Kenneth Kellogg as Malcolm X and Joshue Stewart as Elijah/Street, alongside Leah Hawkins, Ronnita Miller and Joshua Conyers.

What is the story?

One of the most recognizable Civil Rights activists of his time, Malcolm X found Islam after ending up in prison as a young man. From there he became a vocal and influential advocate of both Islam and the Civil Rights movement, until his assassination in 1965.
