DISAPPOINTED
I came into the show expecting to be blown away, like I was when I saw Come From Away at the Rep. I was very disappointed. The actresses who played Nina and Vanessa were very weak in their acting and singing. The actress playing Nina was very shrill and sometimes sharp or flat. Also, the actor playing Benny was weak. The actors playing Usnavi and Sonny were very good and the actresses playing Abuela Claudia and Camila were excellent, as was the actress playing the spunky hairdresser. I was also disappointed in the choreography. It was rather flat compared to Andy Blankenbueler’s choreography in the original. This production was definitely not up to par with most of Seattle Rep’s productions.
