Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion

Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion at 5th Avenue Theatre

Why see Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion?

It's High-School-tastic!

A world premiere musical adaptation of sleeper indie-hit comedy Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is set to light up Seattle in 2017! Directed by the award-winning duo behind Rock Of Ages, Kristin Hanggi and Kelly Devine, follow the madcap adventure of friends Romy and Michele, who upon receiving invitations to their 10-year high school reunion, decide to fabricate careers to impress their peers, until it leads to competitiveness and the near-loss of their friendship.

The cult film hit originally starred Friends' Lisa Kudrow and film star Mira Sorvino as the eponymous duo, and became a firm fan favorite due to its upbeat Nineties soundtrack and ability to connect with its millennial audience. The musical stage adaptation sticks close to the original story, with a pop-inspired, Nineties-style original score by Gwendolyn Sanford and Brandon Jay, who jointly created the soundtrack to the cult tv dramedy Weeds.

Romy & Michelle

choreography - brilliant! creative, balanced, innovative, difficult! staging: not bad ... why not more use of the downstage area for the more intimate scenes with Romy and Michelle? the final number: I object, please. you cannot SAVE the world by re- dressing it: how about, instead, CHANGING the world, one piece at a time? or something like that. The song had good things to say, but in an unbelievable way, story-wise. Save the song; change the lyrics, please! And, by the way, super great audience last night - we loved the show. please take away the unnecessary pop quiz pre-second act, as well as the extensive pre-show remarks. It makes 5th Ave feel more like a semi- professional group. ... Read more
