Mozart's final Requiem has intrigued listeners since it first premiered over two hundred years ago. Unfinished upon his death, it was through his wife's promotion that the mythical piece finally reached the public. Full of haunting emotion and humanity, it is captivating and an example of a magnificent talent undiminished even in the face of the famed composer's own mortality.
Music director Xian Zhang conducts this magnificent piece as part of the orchestra's Symphonic Series, with the Seattle Symphony Chorale featuring. As well as the Requiem, audiences will also be treated the world premiere of the Timpani Concerto by celebrated percussionist Joe Pereira. A splendid program at Benaroya Hall!
