Theatrical delights

When you think of Broadway, tap shoes and glossy show-stopping ballad probably come to mind, yet the worlds of The Great White Way and ballet also have a very close connection. In fact, one of the most acclaimed Broadway shows of recent times, An American in Paris, boasted choreography from famed ballet dancer Christopher Wheeledon. Pacific Northwest Ballet present three ballet pieces that have intimate connections to New York's finest shows, including Wheeldon's Carousel (A Dance), which premiered at the Lincoln Center in 2002, and Balanchine's Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, which appeared at the end of Richard Rodgers musical On Your Toes.
