Why see Pacific Northwest Ballet - Serenade?
Balanchine Brilliance
Pacific Northwest Ballet brings beauty to Seattle with two of ballet's pinnacle pieces, the George Balanchine original Serenade and Pictures at an Exhibition by Alexei Ratmansky. Sandwiched in between them comes a world premiere from resident choreographer Jessica Lang, playing its part in a glorious start to the new season.
George Balanchine's Serenade, set to Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C, was born from his teaching at the School of American Ballet and is now known as one of the hallmark pieces of the famed New York City Ballet. Alexei Ratmansky's Pictures at an Exhibition, meanwhile, re-imagines dancers as priceless pieces of artwork, with a beautiful score by Modest Mussorgsky. A program sure to delight!
