Pacific Northwest Ballet - Swan Lake

Pacific Northwest Ballet - Swan Lake at McCaw Hall

Why see Pacific Northwest Ballet - Swan Lake?

A true classic

Considering that Swan Lake's first outing in Bolshoi, Moscow, was given less than complimentary notices ('neither the ballet nor its ballerina were well received'), Swan Lake has gone on to conquer the world, becoming the must-see of any company's repertoire, as the enchanting story and Tchaikovsky's sublime score blend to create magic. Discover the story anew or for the first time with this PNB favorite from Kent Stowell that has been enchanting audiences since its 1981 debut!

The Story of Swan Lake.

Dashing Prince Siegfried doesn't think he'll ever fall in love. So imagine his horror at being forced by his mother to select a bride that very night! Fleeing to the lake to clear his head, he witnesses the impossible - a swan transforms into the beautiful Odette before his eyes. She tells him of an enchantment placed on her by a wicked sorcerer, cursed to be in swan form by daylight until she finds undying love and devotion. Siegfried is determined to help her - but the forces arrayed against them prove to be more cruel and devious than he could have imagined...
