An electrifying production
Why see Seattle Opera - Carmen?
Beware The Attentions of Carmen
First premiered in Paris in 1875, George Bizet's Carmen has come to be regarded as one of the artform's greatest achievements. The ultimate tale of the femme fatale and how her ruthless behaviour leads those around her astray, Ludovic Morlot conducts this Paul Curran-directed production featuring a stellar cast including Sasha Cooke (2, 8, 10 and 16 May) and J'Nai Bridges (3, 9, 13 and 17 May) as the titular Carmen!
What Is The Story?
Carmen is a provocative traveller woman, whose short temper brings her to the attention of the kind and charismatic Don Jose, who falls head over heels in love with her. An intense tale of love found and ruthlessly taken, Carmen is one of Opera's most intense and passionate pieces, as lust and revenge go hand in hand making for a fiery finale.
