Why see Seattle Opera - La Boheme?
Love, Life, Art
The overwhelming and transformative power of love is the backbone of Puccini's soaring classic, the most requested and celebrated opera in the canon. This new to Seattle Opera production, directed by James Robinson, moves the story forward in time to 1920s Paris, where soaring anthems and romantic melodies accompany the heartrending story of the Bohemians, a group of young artists as they discover the wonder of love in the face of poverty, illness, and darkness.
What Is The story?
Living amongst a lively but destitute collective of artists, philosophers, and musicians, poet Rodolfo loses his heart immediately when he meets seamstress Mimi. The pair embark on a dizzying relationship that captures the whole scope of Bohemian life, from raucous parties at various watering holes to spirited fights with their landlord, but the romance is stopped in its tracks when it's discovered that Mimi is sick. La Boheme is the ultimate paean to love, life, and art!
