A Seattle Repertory Production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's In The Heights
The sights, smells and distinctive sounds of the Nuyorican experience come to the Seattle Repertory Theater stage this year, as part of their groundbreaking 2018/19 season. The breakout musical of Broadway heavyweight Lin-Manuel Miranda, In The Heights is a celebration of the vibrant Latin-American communities in America, centering on the lives, loves, tribulations and triumphs of the inhabitants of Washington Heights.
In keeping the season's theme of exploring the different facets of the immigration experience in America, the story follows first-generation immigrants and their children, who've made their community bright with the color and soul of their birth lands. A score featuring hip-hop, salsa, merengue and soul music weaves around Bodega owner Usnavi and his romance with local hairdresser Vanessa, as well as fellow residents own hopes and dreams.
