I had seen the Broadway touring show a few years ago and found this
one to be superior. The production seemed more vibrant and the
audience was really engaged, whooping and hollering, singing along to
the larger group numbers. The singing was top notch, the laughs
abundant, and the energy level high. Rosie and Bill were hilarious
together. And Sophie’s voice was absolutely beautiful. We thoroughly
enjoyed ourselves and have encouraged friends to try to get down to
see it before it closes. I definitely think kids - maybe 8 and up - would
love it. We had lunch at Palomino before the matinee and it was very
good. For out-of-towners, there is a lot to do and see downtown.

ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL!
I love the movie with Meryl Streep so was hesitant to see this production, but when my
daughter invited me I said YES! And I am so glad I went. What a funny, sexy, dynamic
production. Loved all the acting, the dancing, the singing. Great comedy at times, not in
the movie. Powerhouse lead "Donna" and other great vocalists too. Definitely female
empowerment. Clever stage setting. The crowd was completely captivated and
enthusiastic. Truly an exciting fun night - not to be missed!

BETTER THAN THE TRAVELING BROADWAY VERSION
I saw the traveling Broadway version many years ago and this one is better. Some of
the choreography is incredibly clever. Donna and her two friends, Rosie and Tanya,
steal the show. Their voices are absolutely incredible and their routines had the
whole audience standing, waving their arms, and whooping with pure joy. It was
incredible to be swept away by such happiness.
The three male leads weren't as strong as the three female leads, but they had much
less important roles, so that was okay. Afterall, the most they did was provide sperm
and then disappear! So, maybe this is why the three women always featured in the
billboards are the three middle-aged women. Yea Baby!
This show also highlights how much fabulous talent there is in Seattle. Only a few
actors came from other cities. I was blown away.

ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATING
I took my wife, step daughter and her
boyfriend to the show tonight and I have to
say that, although I am not what one would
call "big into musicals," this play combines
good music, good humor and even s little
raw emotion. The actors singing voices were
phenomenal and the music arrangement
and band were superb! While o can't
mention everyone, a few notable
performances were; Eliza Palasz as Sophie
Sheridan, beautifully captures the essence of
a young woman finding her way in the
world; Kendra Kassebaum as Donna
Sheridan powerfully portrays the woman of
all trades, the mother dealing with the
emotions of her daughter going into the
world and getting married so young, the
independent business owner trying so hard
to keep it all going and the the lady
attempting to suddenly make peace with her
past; and finally, Matt Wolfe as Bill Austin,
this man's comedic timing and styling deliver
laugh after laugh that will almost have you in
tears. I highly recommend anyone to see this
show!

WE LOVED THIS PRODUCTION!
I’m not sure what’s up with some of the man-hating reviews here, but we all loved this show, and thought the men did a great job! Yes, the focus of the show is naturally on Sophie and her two friends – and they were great -- but in no way were the male leads inferior to the women. They each brought a fresh approach, a new interpretation to their characters.
Someone else described the choreography as ‘a bit high-school amateurish’. Really? It’s comments like this that makes me wonder if they saw the same show. The choreography was fresh, with dancers and leads interweaving in a series very intricate patterns…hardly ‘amateurish’.
And lastly, someone else asked why did the men get the final bows when the show was mainly about the women? I don’t know, but I look at it as a symbolic tribute to the women’s influence on them. It was definitely one of the highlights of a great show, a show that we’ll remember for a long time!

EVERYONE HAD FUN
I had the most fun at Mama Mia than any other play I've experienced. The singing was
great and the the actors were lively. The Seattle audience laughed, clapped, whistled and
sang along. If you need a break from stress or negative news, go see Mama Mia. You'll
leave feeling lighter in spirit.

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN, PRODUCED AND DIRECTED BY WOMEN
I thought this was a good production and the first time in seeing Mama Mia on stage. Reading the history behind the musical was eye opening. Women produced, wrote and directed the first show and the show is about a woman (Donna) and her girl friends and daughters. The men in the show are just plot points. This musical was directed by a man, choreographed by a man. My biggest complaint was why were the men given a curtain call after the three women? The three women were far better than the men and it is the story of Donna so why didn't she get a curtain call with the two ladies and then take her final bow?

LOVED (MOST) OF THE LITTLE CHANGES
Yes, they've tweaked a few of the numbers, but the changes are great for the most part
and the story line is still intact. Sophie's voice is fantastic (can't wait to see more), and
Donna's is good, albeit a bit theatrically stiff at times. Donna's friends are great singers
(one channels Tina Turner in one of her ABBA songs and it works!), but the guys are so-
so. All in all its a great romp, I laughed more than the first time I saw it years ago, and,
not surprisingly, it's 100x better than the movie which was horribly cast.

MAMMA MIA - INCREDIBLE MUSIC AND ACTRESSES (AND SOME GUYS)
Saw performance three in the run and it’s a show of great belly laughs, emotional highs,
gotta-dance-music...and three guys. The casting for Sophie, Donna, Tanya and Rosie is
spot on, the men and women of the chorus sing and dance with enough energy to power
the city in a blackout, Sky is a fair singer and decent actor, but the three “dads”...lord help
us! Bill, the intrepid adventurer, is played as a slightly doughy buffoon, but at least can
hold the stage when required - skilled performer but wrong for the character. Harry
could sing and seemed like a reasonable character fit but if the actor is going to attempt
an English accent he needs to choose a region of the British Isles and stick with it. And
Sam. He knew his lines, that’s the height of his performance. The actor looked like an
awkward 30 year-old and moved around the stage with the emotional range of a lamp
post. Consequently the scenes with Donna fall flat no matter how much she tries. Female
leads 5 stars, Male 2 stars.

FUN SHOW, SOME GOOD SINGING
the 5th Avenue's production of Mamma Mia was fun, but definitely a
disappointment for the amount of money spent. Donna's two friends are amazing,
some singers are above average, and some are just not good - especially most of the
guys. The choreography was a bit high-school musicalish, but it was fun. There is a
little sing along at the end that is lively and definitely worth staying for.
The great thing about the 5th Avenue Theater is that most seats are good. You can
sit in the back and see well. This show is not for younger kids because there are a
fair amount of sexual innuendos and gestures.
