An exciting evening of musical exchange with the Silkroad Ensemble, Kinan Azmeh and the Seattle Symphony
Kinan Azmeh returns to Benaroya Hall in 2019 as he joins the Seattle Symphony and the Silkroad Ensemble for an unforgettable evening of world music, celebrating the exchange of musical traditions. The "intensely soulful" (New York Times) Azmeh returns with the World Premiere of his clarinet concerto which will be featured alongside members of the world-renowned Silkroad Ensemble, who will perform music inspired by the historical trading route.
Founded by Yo-Yo Ma in 1998 the Silkroad Ensemble is a collective of musicians from various countries along the historical trade route. With the aim to celebrate the great cultural exchange that such a decisive and sometimes problematic route has provided the global community, the Silkroad Ensemble rejoices in their differences but connects through their love of artistic expression.
