Howard Jones

January 28, 2020

Howard Jones was one of the defining figures of mid-'80s synth pop. Jones' music merged the technology-intensive sound of new wave with the cheery optimism of hippies and late-'60s pop. Jones racked up a string of hits in the mid- and late '80s before he retreated into being a cult figure in the '90s. Don't miss the 'What Is Love' singer on tour in 2020, when he'll be presenting music from his most recent release, Transform and celebrating 35 years of Human's Lib!

One of the most prominent jazz performing groups of the swing era, it was founded by Count Basie in 1936. The band survived the late '40s decline in big band popularity and went on to produce notable collaborations with singers such as Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald in the '50s and '60s. The group continues to perform and record even after Basie's death in 1984.
