TERRIBLE WESTERN FLARE
This story is a strong and powerful journey through the lives of two women impacted by the Taliban and conservative culture. By adding a western flare to this story, the depth and emotion was totally lost. Actors were unable to pronounce certain words correctly, which to someone who speaks the language, detracts from the authenticity of this enormous story. I felt zero chemistry from most of the actors who seemed to sing at each other rather than intertwined to share a story. The music was nice, the set was gorgeous. However, after spending over $400 on tickets- we left half way through. This was an opportunity to take this story and the plight of Afghanistani women worldwide and to make an enormous statement. The ridiculous melodies sounded like my five year old singing to herself as she plays. I commented to my cousin that I actually thought the actors in his high school musical had more chemistry than this. Extremely disappointed at how this powerful opportunity was lost.
